Palenque and Palenque ruins

Efter att ha spenderat 10 h på nattbussen mellan Tulum och Palenque kom vi fram lagom till brunch vilket intogs inne i Palenque. Det stod i Lonely planet guiden sa att det inte var mycket att se inne i staden. Vi tyckte att detta var lite elakt och var tvugna att spana runt lite. Vi frågade till och med folk på gatan vad vi borde se. Det enda vi fick till svar var parken, parken och parken.

Vi gick dit, men kan inte påstå att det var mycket att se. SÅ därifrån tog vi en taxi ut till El Jaguar var vi planerade att bo och sedan var planen att ta oss upp till ruinerna.

Ruinerna var vackra, men det var varmt och bergit med trappor och inte lite trappor och inte lite sol. Det tog inte långtid innan kläderna satt klistrade på kroppen och man bara längatde tillbaka till Tulum och havet. Tänk att få hoppa i havet efter en halv dag bland ruiner i stekande sol.
Och dessa ruiner fick man faktiskt gå på för att kunna se insidan av dem och även njuta av utsikten som de är välkända för.

När vi lämnade ruinerna så bestämde vi oss för att gå hem och helt plötsligt i en kurva så blev vi tipsade och lite folk att gå in på en stig och bada i ett vattenfall. Gissa om vi trodde vi hade hamnat i himlen. Tyvärr så visade det sig att national parken höll på att stänga så vi fick bara gå in snabbt och titta innan vi behövde gå tillbaka ut till vägen.

After having spent 10 h on the nightbus between Tulum and Palenque we arrived safe and sound just in time for brunch that we had in the town of Palenque. According to the Lonely planet guide the town of Palenque is not worth spendning any time in and we should head straight out to the ruins. We thought this sounded a little evil and felt that there must be something to see in the town. So we started asking around and the only thing we were told that was worth to watch was the parque. So we walked to the parque, had a look and then jumped straight into a cab that took us to El Jaguar where we were spending the night. 


After having checked in we took a commida to the entrance of the Ruins and then spent the afternoon walking around in the heat and stairs. Oh my god there are SO many stairs at this site since you are actually allowed to walk up on a lot of the building to admire the view and look and constructions inside in some cases. 
Then also Planque ruins is build on a hill so that requires even more stairs when walking around just looking at the ruins. We all longed to go back to Tulum for a swim in the ocean afterwards, but that was not possible. It was so hot and sweaty and by the end of the day we were all soaked in sweat (dripping, could even wring our clothes out).


When we left the site we decide to walk back down the hill to our stay just to be able to admire some of the national park and fresh air. Suddenly we arrive at a turn on the road and there is alittle walkpath into the forest. We start to talk with some people coming out of there and find out that just 150 m in there is a waterfall that you are allowed to swim in. We actually thought we had died and gone to heaven at that point. Unfotunately the park was closing so we were not allowed to go and swim, but they did allow us to go there and have a loook and dip our feet.
